Biker dies after Sunday morning crash in Dumfries: police
DUMFRIES, VA – A motorcyclist died Sunday after an accident in Dumfries, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Authorities identified the man as Jason Alan Whitaker, 46, of Quantico.
Investigators said Whitaker was driving a 2006 Shadow Aero VT750 south on Richmond Highway around 11 a.m. Sunday. Police say Whitaker ignored a traffic light at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Allen Dent Road.
At the intersection, Whitaker’s motorcycle collided with a Hyundai Tucson that had a green light to turn left onto Richmond Highway heading north from Allen Dent Road, according to the police report.
The impact threw Whitaker off the motorcycle, police said. He slid through the intersection and collided with the front of a Dodge Ram 1500 truck.
An ambulance took Whitaker to hospital, where he died of his injuries, authorities said Sunday.
The driver and two passengers of the Hyundai went to the hospital as a precaution. Police said they were discharged from hospital on Sunday. The Dodge driver reported no injuries.
