A letter from the Director…

Well here we are starting another year - waiting for the weather to warm up. I seemed to have contacted the Flu bug this year. I cannot recall ever being that sick, I was off of work for a whole week and I am not quite sure I am completely over it yet. I would not wish that one on my worst enemy.

I would like to take this time to thank all the Chapter Officers, Committee Chairman and Volunteers for a very successful year. I received a lot of "Thank you's" over the past month or so for all the things we did around the Holidays.  I recently received letters of appreciation, for the chapter, from the Garden City United Needy Family Fund, The Mayors Committee for Underprivileged Children, Veterans Haven, Department of Veterans Affairs, Disabled American Veterans, The Thin Blue Line of Michigan and the Garden City Goodfellows. I also received a Thank You from Our Post Commander on the Thanksgiving Dinner we put on at the Post on Thanksgiving Day.

I also met the new Air Force Jr.  ROTC Instructor from the High School at the Underprivileged Children's Annual Luncheon just before Christmas. He commented that he was really impressed with the American Legion Riders since so many showed up to help at the Luncheon and also with all the awards I was able to present to the ROTC unit in the name of the
